My Sister's Keeper

I agree with Judge DeSalvo's ruling. I think that Anna should make the decisions for herself. It's her body, and she shouldn't be forced to do something that she doesn't want to do. Campbell helps her make decisions, but in the end I think it should be what she sees as best. I think this will avoid anything that Anna might think will harm her in the end, especially if it doesn't help Kate. I also agree that Campbell should help Anna make the decisions. Sara would have whatever would benefit Kate in mind, so she wouldn't fully be able to help Anna see the pros and cons of both sides. She would want Anna to choose whatever would help Kate.

Designer Baby

I don't agree with the designer baby. If I was sick, I wouldn't want my parents to have had my brother just to provide for me. I would be grateful for everything he was doing for me, but I would also be completely dependent on him. Also, if it were my child that was sick, I wouldn't create another baby just to help the first child. I would love the first child, but things in life happen for a reason. There is a reason that the child is sick, and I wouldn't want to mess with that. What happens if the second child stops providing for the first? We are all going to die eventually, and we need to learn to deal with pain and loss. Things will get better, but we can't make life perfect. This isn't how life is supposed to happen.

Holocaust Denial

How can you reason with the fact that millions of people, millions of Jews, died in a short period of time? It's all because of the Holocaust. There is no reason to deny history. It's all true, it all happened. There is evidence everywhere about the Holocaust. It was a horrific event, but it shouldn't be overlooked or denied. World War 2 helped shape the world into what it is today. We need to look at events past to keep them from happening today. Look for credible sources for information. The Internet is constantly available, but we need to be carefully. Web sites that aren't reliable are going to be biased, and that means they will twist the story until you believe something different. Looking around the world, there are remains of crematories, gas chambers, and concentration camps.

Holocaust

I think the events of the Holocaust are terrible, but it could have been prevented. All the blame was put on Germany, which caused them to get mad and what revenge. The conditions in the Treaty of Versailles were too harsh on Germany. Also, I think what happened in the concentration camps was horrible. Those event could have been stopped as well. If people viewed others as individuals instead of groups, then the world would be smoother. If one person in a group does something wrong, the whole group shouldn't have to be punished.

Positive Aspects of my Parents

One thing that I have noticed about my mom is that she is really good at listening. I've always known she was, but one experience really helped me. One of my friends wasn't as close to her mom as I was. I didn't really notice our relationship, but she did. She told me that she wanted the kind of relationship I had with my mom. This helped me tell my mom everything. She listens to everything I have going on, and she always talks to me and helps me get through problems.

To Kill A Mockingbird

I think that I would be friends with Scout, Jem, and Dill. They have a lot of fun adventures that I would want to be involved in. When I was younger, my brother and I would make up games to play outside. We would sometimes act things out and it was fun. Their were also some neighbors in that I didn't know very well, and there wasn't many people my age for me to hang out with.

Living a Life

The best way to have the life you want is to look around. Notice little details, they may matter later. Pay attention to memories that made you happy, things that shaped you into who you are now, and people that have changed your life. Learn new things. Be happy and smile. Have people you can talk to. Open up, don't hold back. Life moves and changes fast. Be open to change and know things will happen for a reason. Bad days may come, but just keeping your head up, it will get better eventually.

Constitutional Amendments

I would make it so that there is more equality between races. There are still people who use their race to their advantage. There are different grants based on race and what happens within that race. There are also still people who judge others just on race. It really bothers me because it's really nothing that major. People need to starting looking on the inside of people, not judging others based on looks. So I feel that different races should become more equal.

Believe in Again

If you believe in something still, then the belief hasn't changed. If you are believing in something again, then the belief went away, but you want to believe in it again. I wish that I could believe in Santa again. I have so many memories of setting cookies and milk out for Santa. Then, on Christmas morning, opening all the presents from Santa. It was fun getting all excited for everything that Santa would bring. Thinking of Santa brings other memories as well. Making him a list, going to see him, it was just a great time in my life.

Personality vs. Appearance

I think that outward appearance has a connection with inward personality. I know people who, by the way they look, I can tell how they are going to act. That isn't always a bad thing. There are other people I have met who surprised me. I figured that they would act a certain way, but they didn't. That also can be a good thing. It depends on the situation. Human nature is for us to judge others. Most judging has to do with looks, because it's the first thing we see. People choose their personality. It can be affected by influences, but the end result is all on the individual. We also somewhat choose our looks, like our hair and clothes. So I feel that those two choices mostly will correspond with each other.

Saver or Spender

I believe that I am more of a saver. I can wait to buy things. When I get money, I normally don't spend it right away. I like to wait for things that I really want and know I will use more often. The people who buy things right away won't use some of the items that they bought forever. Some of it will be only useful for a short time. I think it is more beneficial to be a saver because it will be more helpful to me.

Extrovert or Introvert

I feel like I'm am a mix of extrovert and introvert. I tend to be friends with most people I meet, but I have a group of friends that I'm closest to, and I mostly do things with them. I like hanging out with friends, but depending on the situation, I might just want to go in my room alone. If everyone was an extrovert, I feel like it would be a lot louder, but we might all be more outgoing and understanding with other people because we would take the time to get to know them. If we were all introverts, I think that it would be a really cliquey world. No body would really want to step outside of their comfort zone. It could be a good thing. My opinion is that either could make a good leader, the extroverts just show it more. I have both types of friends. I think this is better because it gives me different experiences and lets me do different things with different people.

Thought of the Day

"You are the only person who has to know about this forgiveness because this is something that takes place within you and for you." Forgiveness can be really helpful in life. If you don't forgive someone for whatever may have happened, it can have an affect on current or future relationships with anyone. Forgiving also doesn't have to come after an apology and you go on with that person. It could be letting go of the incident and keeping yourself away from that person, knowing that you will become stronger from it. Holding on to bad experiences can hold you back from growing and getting good experiences that can make you happy.

Thought for the Day

"No matter what happens in your life, how you interpret those events is up to you." We all go through different experiences everyday, some good and some bad.  When you reach a bad experience, you choose how to react. You can choose to see the glass as half empty or half full. It may be hard to put a positive light on a negative experience, but it can help. It can become easier to get over the negative time by seeing the positive and how it could help your growth as a person.

Thought of the Day

"Be committed, do what it takes, and then you will have what you want." This quote shows how you can get the most success. When you have a goal, you need to work at it, or it will never happen. Becoming committed to something helps with doing whatever it takes to get the commitment done. Once it's been accomplished, you will have the desired results. This is something that, with a little work, can help to reach goals.

Behavior

Behavior--fresh, native, copious, each one for himself or herself,
Nature and the Soul expressed--America and freedom expressed--In it the finest art,
In it pride, cleanliness, sympathy, to have their chance,
In it physique, intellect, faith--in it just as much as to manage an army or a city, or to write a book--perhaps more,
The youth, the laboring person, the poor person, rivalling all the rest--perhaps outdoing the rest,
The effects of the universe no greater than its;
For there is nothing in the whole universe that can be more effective than a man's or woman's daily behavior can be,
In any position, in any one of These States.

Every one has a different behavior pattern. There are many different types, and no two people are going to be exactly the same. Success comes from behavior, which we choose. What we do and what we become come from our behavior.

Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman was a famous writer. He is most known  for his poetry. He would be considered a romanticist because he looked more in depth at situations. He talks about nature. He writes with feelings, not just facts. You can feel his emotions as you read his poems.

Oh Captain! My Captain!
O Captain! my Captain! out fearful trip is done,
The ship we weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up-for you the flag is flung-for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths- for you the shores a-crowding
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captian lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Success Comes Through Hard Work

I agree with the quote, "When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success." People who work hard tend to do better than the people who don't care and slack off all the time. People who don't study for a test can get lucky and get a good grade, but it isn't making them successful. True success can be earned through hard work and dedication to whatever you want to put your mind to. Setting goals can also help bring success. People have to work towards the goals that are set.
